| Sitar is perhaps the best known of the Indian instruments. Artists such as Ravi Shankar have popularized this instrument around the world. The sitar developed during the collapse of the Moghul Empire (1700). It reflected the culture of the times and in that it showed both Indian and Persian characteristics. In this programme, Allyn Miner demonstrated for us her talent on this complex Indian instrument known as the sitar.
