MEDIA DIVISION The MCA Media Division is a one stop shop for the design, conceptualization and production of educational media based materials. Production and Related Activities Primary and Secondary Sectors
This is a series of television programmes meant for school broadcast. It has been developed and design in collaboration with the Ministry of Education and Human Resource to meet the requirements of the average students in English Language, Mathematics, Sciences and Social Sciences. We are presently producing programmes for Std 3 and 5 AND Form 1 and 111
Series of programmes on pedagogical issues that aims at improving teaching practices and skills.
This project aims at motivating teachers to use technology to enhance the reaching and learning processes. So far some 1500 educators have been trained in the use of media in the classroom. The MCA has also distributed approximately 10,000 CD/DVDs containing series of programs. This has helped schools to build up their media library.
The MCA is a major partner of the School Information and Technology project of the Ministry of education and Human resources. Its responsibly is limited however to the development of materials and training of users. The MCA has compiled two CDs containing freeware that are relevant to the curriculum at the level of lower primary. It has also developed interactive materials in mathematics at the level of standard IV.
The MCA has produced series of programs where students of upper secondary are given the opportunity to express themselves before the camera. The specific objective is to promote English language through active participation of students in studio based programmes.
The MCA also collaborates with a number of ministries and public agencies to produce materials for their specific needs. These are training, sensitization or awareness programmes. A significant number of spots and programmes on themes such as environment, health, women and family, consumer protection, safety issues have been produced.
The MCA receives feedback on usage of its own programmes through interaction with teachers in workshops, questionnaires sent to schools , visits to schools and direct from users calling at the National Resource center and. These are fed into the system for improvement or exploration of new areas of productions. Clients also send their feedback through letters and express their appreciation for work done.
